Hollister and the Ting Tings and other random things

Crafty title? No...

What an interesting day I had!
I make an hour drive to work every day as most Los Angeles people who actually have to go to work must do.  I won't complain, the destination on the other end of that hour long drive holds the possibilities of making ends meet.  Anyway, long day at work and I was beginning to feel a little insane towards the end of the lunch rush.  This mother and daughter asked for their bill, and put their cash in and left it on the table.  Okay, their bill was $28 and I look in the billfold and there is what, like $55 ish? So, like what I hope any normal person would do, I haul butt after them!  I mean, obviously some mistake.  I scared them running up behind them, and quickly told her she left WAY too much money.  She looked at the money and took a $5 back.  I told her to take more, and then she just said to take it all because I came running after her.  Now- I'm pretty sure if she had counted the money and saw how much she left me, she would have taken some back; but she simply said no and walked away.  I am going to take that as a sign as some good karma coming back.  And in the spirit of good karma, I handed a few extra dollars off to the bus boys since they pick up my slack.  Lesson one for the day: Karma! Pay it forward!  Butterfly effect and what not.
Positive energy into the universe!

Driving on my way home from my work, I saw this HUGE billboard that told me the exact date of Judgment Day.   HUH?!  May 21, 2011 it told me.  UH uh, no.  Did you read any of the Left Behind books? Absolutely terrifying.  Now, if you know me, you know that I've been in somewhat of a spiritual quest for around a good year now.  And so obviously the first thing I do is call my family.  It turns out that many spiritual groups through the years have 'predicted' the end of the world, or the end of the 'good' world- the rapture as described in Revelations.  The entire drive home I'm thinking about this whole concept of God and Jesus and what I feel.  My father told me it never hurts to be ready.  Well, although I do believe in God, I have found it difficult to wrap my logical brain around immaculate conception.  And then I decide that God, in my opinion, wouldn't have given me the ability to question and think and then send me to hell for not believing in Jesus as the son of God.  When I really started thinking, I thought: how could a mother or father damn their children to hell?  They wouldn't and I think that's the point.  God, whoever or whatever he is, loves us wholly and completely, faults and all.  And I don't think he would send us to hell for having momentary lapses of judgment or what, being homosexual? Or anything that evangelist Christians preach about.  My god is not vengeful and is all loving and that maybe there isn't even such a place as 'heaven' or 'hell' as society proposes it be, but just one place, one new plane of existence where we continue our lives in a different form or....something. I don't believe in the rapture because God wouldn't leave us all alone to think about what we did wrong "cue dad shaking finger at child".
I mean, let's be honest, this is all speculation.  But I think my God and I are pretty okay with this interpretation.
That's a little too deep for a Tuesday evening.

Off to relax before another day at the grind.
